A Day in Al Khan: Beach, Aquarium and Seafront Walks

A visitor's plan for Al Khan, Sharjah: the public beach, aquarium and maritime museum area, and practical tips for timing, shade and getting there.

Al Khan is a seafront neighbourhood close to Sharjah city. This guide is for visitors planning a day out at the beach and the attractions next to it. See the Al Khan hub.

What is nearby

The official tourism guide, Visit Sharjah’s Al Khan Beach page (read 6 October 2026), describes a 600-metre strip of sand with a dedicated area for swimming and water sports. It lists a surf school offering kayaking, parasailing, surfing and fly boarding, plus banana-boat rides and beach volleyball. For children it mentions a playground with several slides, and it says the beach has showers, changing rooms and toilets.

The same page puts the Sharjah Maritime Museum and Sharjah Aquarium about a five-minute walk from the beach, with Al Mamzar Beach just to the south. Check opening hours, charges and any seasonal rules with each operator before you go.

Suggested pacing

  • Morning: beach or seafront walk while temperatures are lower.
  • Midday: indoor visit to the aquarium or museum.
  • Late afternoon: return to the waterfront as it cools.

Practical tips

  1. Weekends and holidays are busier; arrive early.
  2. Bring sun protection and water; shade is limited in summer.
  3. Follow beach dress and conduct guidance posted on site.
  4. Parking can be tight at peak times.
