Sharjah has coastline on two seas: the Arabian Gulf to the west and the Gulf of Oman to the east. The official tourism guide, Visit Sharjah (run by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, SCTDA), lists several public beaches. Here is what it says about each, and who each one suits. Facilities and operators change, so check before you go. An Arabic version is available: شواطئ الشارقة.
Beaches in Sharjah city (Arabian Gulf)
Al Khan Beach
A 600-metre strip of sand in the Al Khan neighbourhood with a dedicated swimming area. The tourism guide lists a surf school with kayaking, parasailing, surfing and fly-boarding, as well as banana-boat rides and beach volleyball. For families it mentions a playground with slides, showers, changing rooms and toilets. Sharjah Aquarium and the Sharjah Maritime Museum are about a five-minute walk away. The Arabic version of the same page adds that the swimming area is lifeguarded and that chairs and umbrellas can be rented. See also our Al Khan area guide.
Best for: a quick family beach visit combined with the aquarium.
Al Mamzar Beach
Located between Al Khan Lagoon to the north and Al Hamriyah Port to the south, and sharing its name with the neighbouring beach on the Dubai side. Visit Sharjah says hook fishing is allowed here, next to the Sharjah Aquarium, and that people use the area for volleyball, football and basketball at weekends. Its Arabic page adds jet-ski rental kiosks and food trucks.
Best for: weekend sport and fishing.
Al Heera Beach
Described as the longest beach in the city at 3.5 km along Al Muntazah Street. Listed features include jogging and cycling tracks, sports courts and fields, children’s play areas, prayer rooms, restroom and changing facilities, a marina for more than 100 yachts and boats, and three clusters of six food-and-beverage units each. It also has Kota Skate Park, described as Sharjah’s first professional skate park. Al Heera hosts the Sir Bu Nair Festival from 7 to 18 October 2026; see our festival guide.
Best for: active families, runners, cyclists and skaters.
Al Hamriyah Beach
A family beach with soft white sand, a children’s play area, toilets and parking. The tourism guide says it was recognised as the first beach in the Emirate of Sharjah suited to people with disabilities, thanks to trained staff and facilities built to World Disability Union standards. Activities include football and volleyball.
Best for: families with members who need accessible facilities.
Beaches on the east coast (Gulf of Oman)
Khorfakkan Beach
A 3-km crescent-shaped beach lined with palm trees. Visit Sharjah lists swimming, fishing, diving, parasailing and kayaking, with boat and jet-ski rentals from huts near the centre of the corniche and boat trips to Shark Island for snorkelling and diving. Khorfakkan is 137 km east of Sharjah, roughly halfway between Dibba and Fujairah.
Best for: a full-day trip with water sports.
Al Luluyah Beach
A quiet public beach in Khorfakkan with a mountain backdrop and a camping site for watching the sunrise. Sharjah24 reports it is 1.6 km long and has a women-only beach and a children’s beach.
Best for: a peaceful evening or an overnight camping trip.
Kalba Beach Corniche
A 9.4-km seafront with a rubber jogging track, shaded benches facing the sea and pedestrian crossings. Kalba is 120 km east of Sharjah city and about 12 km south of Fujairah. At the southern end the coastal sands and mangroves form part of the Al Hefaiyah Conservation Area, which Visit Sharjah describes as an important nesting site for hawksbill turtles and the only place in the UAE where the Arabian collared kingfisher breeds.
Best for: long walks, jogging and nature.
